Visitors:
Thank you to all our visitors to the tower today and our awesome observers,
Michael, Noel, and Larry!

Weather:
The weather today was fairly chilly with winds from the southeast all day.
The wind was mostly light and picked up slightly by the end of the day, as
a preview of what is to come tomorrow. There was significant fog most of
the day which reduced visibility.

Raptor Observations:
Raptors were few and far between today with 13 total. Harriers and red
tailed hawks tired for first place with 4 each, followed by Cooper’s
hawks with two. There were one each of a turkey vulture, peregrine falcon
and golden eagle.

Non-raptor Observations:
There were less species today than usual. Mallards dominated the waterfowl
on the marsh, and red breasted merganser were numerous on the lake again.
Sparrows were present as per usual, however white throated sparrow which
have been the most numerous were absent. Chickadees, cardinals, wrens and
woodpeckers were present close to the tower.

Predictions:
Tomorrow is the last day of the hawk count at Holiday Beach! It looks to be
quite windy from the west so hopefully for the last day we are able to see
some migrants.
