As you get into the larger  boats, the trailering and launching becomes a bit
more difficult:  The  Tom Cat 24 weighs almost twice as much for the hull and
engine--trailer  about the same.  So probably count on 7000 lbs for the boat
all rigged  and with gear.

We had Canadian-built Rosborough 246 cruiser which we towed behind  a 1-ton
Suburban (with 7.4L gas engine) -- we loved it!  We towed that  sucker from
Florida to Nova Scotia and cruised from Key West to the Bras d'Or  lakes on Cape
Breton I.  The all-up tow weight was 6720 lbs (I weighed it),  trailer weighed
1540#, leaving 5180# for the boat (with about 1/4 fuel, 1/4  water). The boat
towed excellently at 70 mph on the highway, was 8'-6" wide so  we never
needed permits, we launched and retrieved easily at all sorts of ramps  -- no
problem.  So, it can be done with the right equipment.

Incidentally, the boat had twin 45-hp Honda's (on brackets) and  lots of
custom features inside.  It even had on-demand propane hot water,  something
that's almost impossible to find nowadays -- probably because of  liability
insurance.
The only thing we missed was a real shower (we did have a shower  head in the
aft cockpit).  Not a cat, but a great little pocket  cruiser!

Cruise speed was 15 kts (at 4750 rpm) burning 5  gal/hr.  Interesting to note
the performance similarity to the PDQ  powercat with twin 75's.
