USING YOUR LIFE STORY TO WRITE AN ARTIST STATEMENT
How we describe our work and promote ourselves as artists matters. This talk is designed for a spectrum of artists —from painters to sculptors, from potters to printmakers, watercolor artists to oil painters — who find themselves flummoxed by the task of crafting a compelling statement about their work. Perhaps you need a bio for your website homepage, or you've been asked to submit an artist statement for a juried show. No matter the format, this talk will use teachings and offer a quick exercise to help attendees envision an artist statement that is personal, succinct, meaningful, descriptive, and adaptable for various audiences and needs.
