Interesting article however it is a sailboat (cat-ketch) with a big
freestanding rig. Not sure how the term "hybrid" came up -- I wouldn't call
it a motorsailor either. As mentioned in the article Randy Repass (west
marine) is currently cruising in a sister ship somewhere in the So. Pacific.
The designer, Tom Wylie is an excellent west coast designer. Probably the
best sailboat I ever owned and the most fun to sail was a one-design boat he
designed. If I were in the market, he would be on my very short list of
designers I'd talk to.
Interestingly I was out at the Farallone Islands this past Saturday. The the
Baylis was anchored and a Boston Whaler (I assume theirs) was looking for
sharks to tag. Didn't see a shark but we did see a lot of humpback whales
and the usual dolphins.
