View all threadsGreat news: The FY 2018 omnibus bill provides a $35 million dollar increase for the adult education state grants line item. I think our last increase was about $30 million (the last time caps were raised) so (I think — too lazy to check) this is AEFLA's biggest single year increase in a long, long while.
Party poopers like me will be quick to point out that this is still not even close to the authorized level for FY 2018, let alone what is needed — or some such nonsense — but IGNORE ME AND ENJOY. Great job advocates across the country for making this happen! I know it’s not $100 million like you hoped but I bet as we dive into this giant bill, we’ll see that there wasn’t a lot of additional money allocated to Labor H and this will be seen as a big victory.
I’ve attached the relevant page showing the increase from FY 2017 levels. The complete document is at:
http://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20180319/DIV http://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20180319/DIV H LABORHHS SOM FY18 OMNI.OCR.pdf
Now you’ll have to excuse me as I prepare myself to review what will surely be horrifying riders in the interior/environment bill...
Jeff
