2009 GRANTS ANNOUNCEMENT

Small grant recipients have been selected

March 25, 2009 -The Puyallup River Watershed Foundation would like to
thank all the groups that submitted an application to the Puyallup River
Watershed Foundation Small Grants Program. We were pleased with the
response to the program considering this was our first year. We received
a total of 6 proposals from various groups across our watershed. A
variety of projects were submitted, including outreach and education,
stream and habitat restoration, wetland mitigation, and rain garden
workshops. All of the proposals were excellent, making the decision to
determine which ones to fund a difficult choice. Applications were
judged based on how well they benefited our watershed in terms of water
quality or habitat protection / restoration as well as the extent of
community involvement and partnership development. They were also judged
on how well they benefited citizens in understanding watershed issues
and their lasting impacts and benefits. We were looking for proposals
that would achieve the greatest impact for the amount of grant money to
be awarded.

We would like to congratulate the following organizations that have been
selected for funding:

Friends of Clarks Creek (Puyallup, WA)
Trash removal and creek stewardship education on Clarks Creek

Sequoia Middle School Nature Club (Auburn, WA)
Sequoia Middle School Wetland Restoration

Edgewood's Friends of the Park (Edgewood, WA)
Jovita Creek Protection
