In an effort not to be a "list lurker" here's a bit of an introduction.

I've owned a number of generally small power and sail boats over the
years, lived on a small houseboat for a few months, and crewed on a
number of larger sailboats both cruising and racing.  I've some
racing history with multihulls, both catamarans and trimarans.

I live outside of Boston and am nearing retirement.  One adventure
I've always wanted to try is to do the great circle route.  My wife
and I have started looking at boats in that regard.  Initially, we'd
thought of a sailboat but after reading a number of online journals
power seemed to be worth a look, thus my interest in this list.

Unfortunately, we missed the Newport RI boat show where there were,
to my understanding, a large number of power and sail catamarans.  We
did see a PDQ 34 at the Boston boat show.  While it was a nice enough
boat we felt that the interior was a bit chopped up and "tight."  It
rather felt, at least to me, as though it needed a couple of feet of
"boat stretcher."

In any event I expect that folks on this list might provide a good
deal of perspective on boats suitable for our plans.

Note from Listmaster Georgs to Richard and others who have more than

You can also subscribe to both your addresses, checking the no-mail
option for the second addresses; thus, you'll be able to post from
either address yet contintue to receive only one copy of everything.
