Fully-Funded Ph.D. Position in Building Cyberinfrastructure for Innovation
The department of Media and Information at Michigan State University invites applicants for one fully-funded Ph.D. position with a focus on designing smart cyberinfrastructures to support team innovation in organizational settings and a strong interest in recent enterprise technologies such as Enterprise Social Media funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. The position is intended to start August 16, 2018.
The selected candidate will join the world-renowned Ph.D. program offered jointly by the Department of Media and Information, Department of Advertising and Public Relations, and the School of Journalism at Michigan State University. The doctoral program is comprised more than 50 Ph.D. Faculty with research interests that span important current and emerging issues in media and information studies. Students complement theoretical coursework with hands-on experience as they are actively involved in research from the start of their studies. The successful applicants will be supported by graduate research assistantships for up to 5 years (contingent on performance) with generous stipends of $2000+ per month, tuition remission, and health benefits. Additionally, university fellowships, dissertation completion fellowships, summer research fellowships, and substantial stipends for travel to academic conferences are available.

Requirements:
Completed university degree (Master's or exceptional BSc candidates) in field such as information systems, business analytics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering or social sciences (with strong technical skills)
Very good command of the English language (TOEFL minimum of 100 IBT with no sub-scores below 22)
GRE highly recommended (Verbal and quant subscores > 160 and writing > 5 are desired)
Other highly recommended skills:
• Data mining, processing and large-scale data management and transformation
• Machine Learning knowledge and skills (especially clustering and classification algorithms for text data)
• Basic knowledge of software engineering
• Basic knowledge of statistics (experience with R and Python)
• Front-end web application development and user experience design
• High level self-motivation, and strong work ethics;
