10/9 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center. 10am-1PM. low tide-rising, 60-68F, cloudy. The center was hosting a class for "Master Naturalist" today, with a few other visitors. On the marsh:- viewed with scope & bins- 6 Mute swans, 27 Great egrets further out, 7 American Black ducks swimming & feeding as the tide was rising, 1 Great Blue Heron, 2 Snowy egret, 9 Laughing gulls, 1 Yellow crowned night heron, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 4 D.C. Cormorants (2 fly-bys) and 12 Black bellied plovers on the mud flats. On the grounds & feeders: 1 White breasted nuthatch, 3 Mourning doves, 15 House finches at the water fountain and at feeders (1 had orange/yellow coloration and a deformed beak), 5 White throated sparrows, 4 Song sparrows, 10 House sparrows, 2 Cardinals & 2 Blue Jays.
