What do you need?

Hello implementers,

In order to create better documentation,  we need user stories to help with documentation for configuring CollectionSpace. What are you trying to make collectionspace do that you need help with? Please email a list to me or the list. These don't need to be particularly long descriptions, but should just state in plain language who you are (user or system administrator) and what you need to be able to do.

If you could please take some time before Friday, August 26, that would help keep us on schedule. If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks everyone,

Heather Hart

Hi Heather,

Here's my first pass at a list of the areas for which I'd like to see documentation:

• How do I set a field to be required (beyond indicating it's required with "<span class="required">*</span>")?

• How do I change the default quick search option to something other than "Person?"

• How can I create a new hierarchical authority (e.g., cultural group, material, object name, etc.)

• How can I change the display size of a text field (changing the parameters in "<textarea rows="4" cols="30" class=...>" seems to have no effect)

• (If possible): How can I change what is displayed under "Field" in the RH Terms Used?  (i.e., to make it more human readable and/or customized to the deployment)?  It would be great to have an option similar to what's available for labels in core-messages.properties, so that I could easily configure "contentPerson" to display as "Person depicted," for example.

• What are the specific steps involved in implementing a schema extensions (creating, binding, etc.)?

• (If possible): How can I change the display order of procedures in "Create New?"

• (If possible): How can I change the display order of the top tabs?

• (If possible): How can I set a default value for a field (e.g., unless otherwise entered, object count [number of objects] should be set to 1).

• (If possible): How can I set a default action/value for a field (e.g., for PAHMA, the identification numbers for media files and movements/storage locations should be automatically assigned).

More as I think of them,

Michael
