UPDATE:

There are only a few days remaining to submit nominations and a number of
positions still have no candidates! Like having a place to present your
work at the ASA? Enjoy the reception? The pre-conference? The newsletter?
How about the special journal issues? Support this important work, get
involved in CITAMS leadership. Send me your self-nominations by Monday
(include your ASA ID#).

Dear CITAMS Members,

The deadline to submit a list of candidates to the ASA for next year's
Section elections is surprisingly soon. Nominations must be received by me
before January 11.

Please consider nominating yourself for a position on the CITAMS section
Council. This is an important service to the Section and the sociologists
of media, communication and information that the Section represents.

Self-nominations are strongly encouraged! If nominating someone else, your
nomination must include a copy of an email confirming the nominee's
willingness to run for the position.

The CITAMS Nominations Committee is now accepting nominations for the
following three positions on the Section Council:

Chairperson-Elect
Two Council Members

As per recent changes to the Section bylaws, for the first time Section
members will elect three members of the Nominations Committee. The
Nominations Committee is responsible for developing a slate of candidates
for elected Council positions.

Chair, Nominations Committee (one-year)
Member, Nominations Committee (two-years)
Member, Nominations Committee (three-years)

The terms of all Council Members shall be for two years each with the
exception of the Chairperson-Elect, who will serve on Council for one year
as Chairperson-Elect, one year as Chairperson, and one year as
Past-Chairperson. Members of the Nominations Committee typically serve
three year terms. However, for this inaugural election of the Committee,
candidates will run for one of three positions of staggered length. The
candidate elected to the on-year position will serve as Chair of the
Nominations Committee in 2016/17. In subsequent years, the member next to
retire from the Committee will serve as Chair.

Thank you,

Keith Hampton
Chair (interim), Nominations Committee
