Greetings Colleagues, I trust you're well and in good spirits. Mark McBride, Director, Ithaka S+R, forwards the attached Defining AI Literacy prospectus. Mark has expressed interest in 2-3 HBCU Library Alliance members participating in this training. There is a $12,000.00 fee to participate; however, Ithaka will subsidize a portion or majority of the fee to meet our members' needs. The one-year project will launch later this month and end in April 2026. From the prospectus, "Ithaka S+R is organizing a select cohort of colleges and universities to consider how existing information literacy frameworks can be adapted or revised to reflect AI-driven transformations in the information economy. Each participating institution will conduct qualitative research to understand the changing information practices and needs of students and instructors, using instruments developed in consultation with methodological experts at Ithaka S+R. Working in collaboration with Ithaka S+R and in conversation with other cohort members, participating institutions will identify how their library can weave AI literacy into their existing operations and serve as campus or even national leaders on AI literacy."
