We will send a detailed table and analysis as soon as possible, but meanwhile below are links to the Congressional materials and some key funding highlights. ·         Notable highlights: o   Department of Education (ED) - $68.2 billion, but there is a rescission of $1.3 billion from the Pell grant reserve, leaving a net total of $66.9 billion, a cut of $1.1 billion. o   Student Support and Academic Achievement state grants (Title IV-A) - $400 million for this new grant created by the Every Student Succeeds Act. o   Pell grants – Funding is frozen at the 2016 level but the bill rescinds $1.3 billion of previously appropriated funding, which does not affect the size of the maximum award for the coming academic year but lowers reserves available for the future.  The bill reinstates year-round Pell grants, allowing an estimated 1 million students to receive a third grant in a year so they can attend school during summer in addition to two other academic sessions. ·         Summaries and Tables:    o   Division H, Title III, of the Statement of Mangers has the official description of the provisions (starting on page 48) and a table for funding of programs within the Department of Education (starting at page 109).     o   House Appropriations: ·         Chairman Frelinghuysen’s summary ·         Ranking Member Lowey’s summary o   Senate Appropriations: ·         Chairman Cochran’s summary ·         Ranking Member Leahy has not yet published a summary     -          Sarah   Sarah Abernathy, Deputy Executive Director 1800 M Street, NW Suite 500 South Washington, DC 20036 T: 202-327-8125 abernathy@cef.org www.cef.org Twitter @edfunding
