I also like small boats (although my spouse likes larger boats--and that is why they were utalized). I made a number of coastal trips to Mexico in a 29 footer--certainly was seaworthy. Mentioning the "S...l"word--there have been a number of 24 to 26 foot s...l .boats which have circumnavigated. The fuel supply and engine power becomes an issue in the smallest of boats. Also the larger boats are more comfortable....
In "Buster" I would think that a large genoa or asymetrical spinaker would be a much better get home s...l-- than having the foreward mast. The A frame mast makes a lot of sense--it is easy to tabernacle, it is very stable with minmal rig, it can house electronics, the paravanes and work as a get home mast. I don't see any use for the foreward mast--any dinghy hoist can come from the A frame mast.
