Never Give Up! Is the story of Minoru Yasui, son of Japanese immigrant parents, born in 1916 and raised in Hood River. He was the first Japanese American attorney in Oregon. During World War II, he initiated the first legal challenge of the forced removal from the West Coast and subsequent incarceration of over 120,000 persons of Japanese ancestry in U.S. concentration camps. Running time: 55 minutes.
Holly Yasui: Producer, Writer and Co-director will join us for the after film discussion. Holly is Min and True Yasui’s youngest daughter. She studied film at the University of Southern California in the 1970s. She has focused on writing and editing, which she practiced and taught in Madison, Wisconsin and Seattle, Washington before moving to Mexico where she now lives.
