Discussion and technical support related to USRP, UHD, RFNoC
View all threadsHello,
Hope everyone is well. I am having trouble communicating with my N210. I hope some can offer some ideas. Here are the details...
USRP: N210
OS: Ubuntu 23.04, Codename lunar
Computer: HP FireFly,
Connectivity:
opt1: Thunderbolt port + Sonnet Tech 10GSF
opt2: Thunderbolt port to RJ45
I can ping the unit.... However, when I try the uhd_usrp_probe and uhd_find_devices commands... I get the following — not very promising...
$ uhd_usrp_probe
[INFO] [UHD] linux; GNU C++ version 12.3.0; Boost_107400; UHD_4.6.0.HEAD-0-g50fa3baa
Error: LookupError: KeyError: No devices found for ----->
Empty Device Address
$ uhd_find_devices
[INFO] [UHD] linux; GNU C++ version 12.3.0; Boost_107400; UHD_4.6.0.HEAD-0-g50fa3baa
No UHD Devices Found
Thank you in advance for your help

That's an unusual address for a "stock" N210. Normally, they're at
192.168.10.2. Do you have a dedicated connection to
the USRP N210?
Also, the netmask on your machine would normally be 255.255.255.0

What address are you pinging it at?
Hello Marcus,
I am going off of a sheet of paper that was laminated on the lid of the USRP. I am thinking someone must have changed the address and the net mask. BTW I did try the out-the-box address and mask... (192.168.10.2 and 255.255.255.0) -- unfortunately it dd not help. Also, full disclosure I am trying a MIMO set-up; however, at the moment I am just working with a single radio. Is there a way of interrogating the radio... to confirm the address and mask?
Thanks again... for all your help. I am looking forward to any additional suggestions.
Regards,
AJ

What address are you pinging it at?
You can run Wireshark on the interface and listen to ARP responses. You can
also go to safe mode:
https://kb.ettus.com/N200/N210_Device_Recovery#Safe_Mode
Your ping might be pinging something else with the same address.
