6/28. Stratford, Short Beach. I just completed a delightful wade out to the Housatonic River tidal flats off Short Beach, Stratford. Amazing concentration of birds feeding on presumed large numbers of Sand Lance fish & other prey. Conservative estimate of 600 Laughing, 500 Herring, 300 Ring-billed, 30 Great Black-backed Gulls, 130 DC Cormarants, 25 Great Egrets, 12 Snowy Egrets.
