Hello,

I would like to know if you have someone in London that can help me install Collection Space on a MAC (running Lion). I have read all installation guides, and have installed the Postgresql, but need help for changing files and finalising the installation. If there isn't anyone in London, maybe I could have the help via Skype Monday or Tuesday next week f possible. Hope to hear from someone.

Many Thanks, Alicia Bastos

I don't know if you have had assistance yet, but I would recommend
installing a tool like VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/) on your
Mac.  With that, you can fully emulate a Linux box and then won't need to
deal with the hassles of getting all of the dependencies installed on
MacOSX.  In fact, you could then use the Automated Installer (
https://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/DOC/Automated+installer+for+CollectionSpace+4.2
).

Thanks, Peter! Appreciate this well-considered suggestion to Alicia. Thanks
for jumping in here! (I've also learned that Richard Millet of LYRASIS
might also have been talking to/working with her off-list ...)

Alicia: Peter's suggestion has some advantages. If you choose to install
and run CollectionSpace inside a VirtualBox virtual machine (VM), you can
take advantage of an automated installer that takes care of most of the
steps involved in installing a CollectionSpace system, including PostgreSQL
installation (so you won't have to manually repeat the work you've already
done in setting this up on the Mac). You can access your CollectionSpace
system, running inside that VM, from web browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome)
running on your Mac. You can also do customization work using your favorite
Macintosh text editor and other Mac tools.

Downsides? This setup isn't completely documented on the CollectionSpace
website; particularly, a few of the setup steps, such as those that let you
use Mac tools to edit files on the Linux system running inside the VM,
would need to be figured out. You'll still need to log into the Linux
system and use its command line at various points to make and test your
changes. And the latest versions of VirtualBox require Mountain Lion (OS X
10.8) or higher: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01.html#hostossupport

I'd be happy to talk with you about this option or others on- or off-list,
as might some others here. In particular, it'd be good to learn what you
covered with Richard and/or others, and where you currently are in the
installation and configuration process.
