I had the first Pine Siskins in my yard today that iIhave actually seen.
With all the reports, iImay have had some earlier, but it would have been
one or two. I do have House Finches and could have mistaken the odd Siskin
for one. There have been very few reports of birds in any number from the NE
corner.
But today I estimate I had between 30 and 40.
Showing up this late I think there is a decent chance they will stay
around for a while.
Oddly, only one of the birds I got a good look at had any appreciable
amount of yellow on it. Seems to me about half the ones we had 2 years ago were
quite yellow. Maybe later in the season?

The dim, leaf-latticed windows of the grove,
How jubilant the happy birds renew
Their old, melodious madrigals of love!"
