Subject: Tell Tacoma City Council to stand with you Against Coal Exports
To: Sierra Club - Washington - Seattle Office alert@sierraclub.org
If Peabody Coal has their way, Tacoma could see up to 18 mile-and-a-half long dirty coal trains rumble through town every single day, spewing harmful pollution all along the way. Help us pack the house on July 25 to ensure the Tacoma City Council takes action to stop this dirty and dangerous proposal!
The Tacoma City Council is considering joining dozens of other elected officials who have already spoken out in passing a resolution against coal exports!
WHEN: Wed. July 25, 4:30 pm
WHERE: Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market Street, Room 16
We hope you can join us to on July 25 for the Tacoma City Council Environment and Public Works Committee hearing. Ensuring that this committee endorses a resolution to be passed by the full City Council is vital.
This is a powerful way for you the people to stand up and demand that the largest coal company in the world - Peabody Coal - is NOT allowed to transport up to 48 million tons of coal through Tacoma and Pierce County on rail to send to Asia. Please join us on July 25.
For questions and to please RSVP for the hearing, please contact me at robin.everett@sierraclub.org or call 206-78-0114 x308
Sincerely,
Robin Everett
