From Nick Bonomo:
01/03/15 - Southbury, Lake Zoar (River Road) near Mitchell Farm --
adult MEW GULL (often called Common Gull) along the Housatonic River
area below the Shepaug Dam in Southbury today. The bird was seen
roosting on the west bank of the river, roosting in fields at Mitchell
Farm, and perching atop the farm buildings. Sightings ranged from noon
to about 2pm, when the snow really started to come down and most of
the gulls dispersed. The farm is at the intersection of River Rd and
Purchase Brook Rd. After comparing images, this looks to be the same
individual found by Patrick Comins last winter that stuck around for a
few days.  Also present were a first cycle ICELAND GULL and a second
cycle LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL.

From Dave Winston:
01/03/15 - Stamford, Cove Island Park -- Well right on schedule
Patrick Dugan spotted the painted Bunting at 9:30 in the same area as
yesterday.  The edge of the woods to the North of the tennis court in
Stamford’s Cove Island Park The bird gave good looks to quite a few
very happy birders.  It flew North again with a brief stop at my
house.
128 Cove Rd (Dave Winston's yard across the street from Cove Island
Park) -- If you come to look for the bunting, check out my bird feeder
at my house.  Juvy Dickcissel hung out all day with the house sparrows
at the feeder or under it.  Picnic table and chairs between the houses
will give good views.
