If you go in your CMOS and disable the smart drive feature it should work just fine unless there are other issues. Mind you... you should have a "backup" ... btw, what kind of computer is it? is it a brand name or a clone? You can always mirror your HDD and have it ready to go in case your current one with the "error" fails... Do you have a backup image of your boot drive? how bout a backup software or a disk utility program like Acronis? you can use that to make a MIRROR image of your current hard drive and make that backup bootable ...
