9/10 Milford, Connecticut Audubon coastal center, 10am-1PM. mid-tide
rising, 70F, overcast.
Lots of activity at the coastal center today. There was a "naturalist
class" with a bird walk , Channel 30 recording some migration videos,
several visitors. We had a couple visiting from Malta (visiting a friend
in Milford who recommended they visit us). They are traveling around the
world in their boat- so we chatted about the birds they have seen and what
they can expect to see here.
On the marsh: 7 Snowy egrets, 4 Great egrets, 1 Great blue heron, 5
Oystercatchers, 15 D.C. Cormorants perched further out, 3 American Black
ducks, numerous gulls, and many "peeps" flying around the marsh. 3 Ospreys
continue in the area- 1 sitting on the perch next to the nest platform. 1
Common Loon in the lagoon.
On the grounds & feeders: 2 Northern Cardinals, 4 House finches, 1 Northern
flicker, several house sparrows and 6 Mourning doves.
