2nd Demise of PDQ?

John,

Info on PDQ production at Pearson Composites has been hard to come by
lately.  Last I heard (back in January), they had laid off about half
their work force, including Beth Simkins, their PDQ Division Mgr.
(See: http://www.projo.com/ri/portsmouth/content/BZ_PEARSON_CUTS20_01-20-09_0LD13GN_v56.359da37.html)
.
I believe they are still officially in the mode of waiting for 8-10
confirmed orders before re-starting production of the 34, but I
suspect this won't happen any time soon. (On their website, as of
March 3, 2009, they show a list price of $420,000 US.  For the 41,
it's $689 K, but I'm afraid that one may really be history!)
Fortunately, the company is being kept afloat for by a sizable order
from the Navy for its Annapolis sailing trainers, so maybe there's
still hope for the PDQ brand!  Although, as I've been advising folks
for the past year or so, I wouldn't hold my breath.  If you really
want a PDQ powercat, your best bet at present is to check the used
boat market.

I've enjoyed the recent discussion on list of alternative designs.
But, so far, I've not seen anything that would entice me to trade in
our beloved Sno' Dog - 12,000 cruising miles and counting!

Do you have any information on what is rumored to be the 2nd demise

Best regards . . . and I do enjoy your website.
