I looked hard at the PDQ 34 over at Trawlers Midwest a year ago... Almost
made the decision, but even though I might afford it, that price got stuck in
my craw... Simply too much money for that much boat..
I am sure the builder would indignantly point out his costs to build each one
- and that is the point that he misses - they cost too much to build and thus
too much to buy - especially in this economy...
About 15 years ago the Kiwi's brought over some of their power cats and tried
to sell them on the US market... The boats were spartan on the interior and
light on gee whiz electronics, but they were built hell for stout and had
power out the gunnels... The US buyers turned them down, cold.. Couldn't give
one away......
It may be that the market will change in five years and people will again
start wanting boats within their means, and boats without opulent interiors
and lacking enough electronics to fly the space shuttle, may start selling..
Only time, and a brave enterpreneur, will tell...
