Juneteenth Freedom Celebration
Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Tollefson Plaza (1548 Commerce St.) in downtown Tacoma
https://www.facebook.com/events/973401253801073
Join us for Freedom Celebration, a family-friendly celebration with music and performances to honor Juneteenth and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) Mural, designed by artist Dionne Bonner. This event is hosted by the City of Tacoma and the Tacoma Art Museum. Hear from Deputy Mayor Kristina Walker and Human Rights Commissioner C. Ivan Johnson; enjoy performances by Tacoma Poet Laureate Christian Paige and dance group The Artist Collective - Creative Direction by Kenya Adams. Eat delicious food from Bajan Station Caribbean Food (available for purchase). Make your mark by adding a handprint to the BLM Mural. And after all that, head over to Tacoma Art Museum for FREE entry to the museum and an outdoor beer garden, as part of Thursday Neighborhood Nights. A printed tour guide highlighting Black artists on view, curated by The Current's Artist Award Manager Victoria Miles, will be available for museum visitors.

Thanks,
Rebecca
