CSpace Implementers -

Once again, thanks for all the contributions to the extra-Roadmap. It's
not a surprise that there are many areas where we'd like to see
development that is above and beyond what the core project team has
committed to. The good news is that in many instances, more than one of
us has a need for the same new functionality. Angela and I would like to
bring representatives from each implementing organization together to
discuss the list, and our options for getting the work done outside the
core project. Please come prepared to discuss whether your organization
is willing/able to take on some design or development work, and what you
would need from the core project team to move forward. If you don't
think your organization could take on design or development work, that's
good to know, too.

I have set up a Doodle poll with potential time/date combinations for
the meeting; please respond no later than this Friday, May 13th. In case
the time-zone awareness isn't working, most proposed times are either
11:30 or 12:30 EDT. The meeting will be held in the project's Adobe
Connect room. http://www.doodle.com/md7qdsn4v7fx8b8x

The complete list is up on the wiki
(http://wiki.collectionspace.org/display/collectionspace/Road+Map+to+2.0
+-+Implementer+Input); I have summarized below the areas that more than
one organization noted was a must-have:

I. Procedures and Vocabularies

  • Inventory control
  • Use of collections
  • Citation authority
  • Place authority

II. New Functionality

  • Bulk import of media files
  • Repeatable sub-fields
  • Extended term-completion user interface
  • Hierarchical relationships between objects
  • Location and movement enhancements
  • Sub-loans
  • Support for non-image files
  • Batch processing

Thanks, and I look forward to speaking with everyone.
