Lat/Lon on the IPad "Garmin BlueChart Mobile" are depicted as N38.97833 W76.47789 (Annapolis).

All other electronic charts depict this location 38°58.699N  76°28.672W.

Is Garmin using some sort of decimal system I'm not familiar with?  How does one translate this to a chart?  BTW, Active Captain coordinates reflect Garmin's depictions.

That is the same location. One in decimal degrees and the other in
degree, decimal minutes. Multiply the decimal portion of the degree
times 60 and you'll come out with 58.69.

Apparently you have your iPad app set to display degrees only, but most
can be set to display in degrees only, degrees-minutes only, or
degrees-minutes-seconds only.

When using a paper chart it may be easier to convert the degrees only to
degrees-minutes, or even degrees-minutes-seconds. Or you can just
estimate the decimal portion of the minutes once you've done the
multiplication times 60.

Hi John
They use just degrees and decimal degrees as a reference. It must be easier to process that keeping degrees separate.  To convert take the decimal portion .97833 x 60 to get minutes.  So it converts to 38' 58.6998.  Repeat with the .6998 x60 to get dd mm ss
