CFP: Neoliberalism 2.0: Technologies, Power, and Resistance Across Borders

The Focal Point project, “Transnational Communications Methods &
Practice: Mapping Technologies and Futures http://www.cultural-tech.org/,"
seeks abstracts for a symposium to be organized on our campus, April 12 -
13, 2013. We welcome papers that engage with the tension that exists
between technologies and reconfigurations of power in the contemporary
moment, not limited to but including:

· transnational studies of technology, labor
· political economy and international development
· social media, digital gaming, visual studies
· gender, race, class, sexuality, and (dis)ability in transnational context
· social movements and media
· youth studies and education
· finance and ICTs
· migration studies
· space and urban studies

Dr. McKenzie Wark (Culture and Media at The New School) and Dr. Paula
Chakravartty (Department of Communications at UMass - Amherst) will be our
keynote speakers.

Please send abstracts of 300 words to abstracts@cultural-tech.org by
December 31. Decisions will be communicated to the participants by
mid-January.
