The Helen S. Smith Gallery is an academic resource for the Green River campus and regional art community.  The gallery highlights the media of the Fine Arts Division by presenting culturally engaging exhibitions by emerging and established Northwest Artists throughout the year.  The gallery provides a catalyst for Green River art students to engage with their first audience through our student art exhibitions.
The spring student exhibition provides a special annual opportunity set aside for our art students to find their footing as exhibiting artists as many prepare to transfer to art schools in the fall or gain confidence to continue with us to further develop a strong portfolio.  We are exceptionally proud of the work they do all year and are excited to present a snapshot, conceptually, of this year’s student experience.

New in 2025! 15 artists will be selected from this spring exhibition to participate in the first annual regional student art exhibition this fall. Green River Collage has the honor of hosting the inaugural regional exhibition and will feature student artists from Green River, Tacoma Community College and South Puget Sound Community College.

In our gallery over her 50-year tenure, we have hosted a remarkable many of the NW greats who have celebrated national and international acclaim throughout their careers, some of which began with this very show. The long legacy of the Helen S. Smith Gallery is a source of pride and we invite you to come and celebrate the accomplishments of our 2025 student artists.
