I went to check on the gull roost reported by Peter Hall last night. The vast majority of gulls present were GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS, I'd estimate at least 100, with some AMERICAN HERRING GULLS mixed in (about 25+). There was a single second-year GLAUCOUS GULL feeding on a mallard carcass on the ice. An interesting, non-bird sighting was a RIVER OTTER that was diving and feeding right near the banks of the river. It was quite unexpected.
At Mooney's Bay out on the ice was another gull roost, comprised of approx. 250+ GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS. There was a handful of AMERICAN HERRING GULLS as well, but I couldn't make out any ICELAND or GLAUCOUS in that roost.

DIRECTIONS: The Billings Bridge gull roost is located at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Bank Street. The best bet is to park at the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre and walk over; the small parking area off of Riverside is closed for the winter.
Mooney's Bay: continue south on Riverside Drive - the entrance to Mooney's Bay is on the right at the intersection of Riverside and Ridgewood Ave.
