I just got back from the Bahamas, where I did some diving with "Above and
Below Abacos," a reputable organization in Marsh Harbour.
The proprietor, Kay Politano, told me she was coming back from a dive in 10'
of water and her new Kevlacat dive boat deveoped a large crack in one of the
hulls and sank, with all hands aboard.
I went to the yard where the boat was taken and found a large crack in the
starboard hull. That hull also seemed to have been deformed in some way that
the other one was not. I saw no evidence that the boat struck anything.
She told me the company is now saying that they had the hull made by another
company. She is unhappy with this boat company, as she paid a lot of money
for this boat and depended upon it for her business. I would be, too.
