To All -

Thanks to the Race Committee (Dave Bauermeister, Joanne Smolen, and John
Sheehan) for giving us a good race today. The forecast was for nasty
t-storms from 2 pm, but they only threatened and never really materialized.
Instead we had a beautiful 15 - 20 mph from the south for course 12 (C-E-B).
There were six boats on the line including Joe Giardina and George Penny.
Some of us reefed, and some barreled through the bigger puffs. We welcomed
new members/new sailors Diane Deveau and Kevin Fletcher on Aeolus, and I'm
happy to say I think they caught the sailing bug with a good endorphin rush
coming up to the finish line.

When we sail we always learn, and today was no exception. Pentimento snagged
the finish line buoy and had to receive a DNF (Did Not Finish). She broke
Rule 31 (touching a mark while racing), but could have completed the race by
taking a penalty turn and then re-crossing the finish line (Rule 44.2).
Thanks to the Race Committee for taking the time to look up the rules, and
explain what happened.

See you on the water.
