I've equipped my Willard with a stationary bicycle frame. The chain drive is
directly coupled to the drive shaft. By pedalling hard, I can increase the
speed of the boat by .5 kt while at the same time decreasing fuel consumption
to the range that Nordhavn estimates in their advertisements. If I time the
pedal pushes properly, the shift in weight fully cancels the rolling
propensity of the boat. All this keeps me in wonderful shape and solves most
of my boating problems. Isn't science wonderful?
