Noel Herdman

Visitors:
We were low on visitors today, but that's okay because we had fantastic
observers! Noel, Michael and Ian, thank you so much for your help.

Weather:
This morning started off a bit chilly but quickly cleared up and warmed
slightly. The wind was from the northwest in the morning and switched to
northeast for the second half of the day.

Raptor Observations:
Most of the raptors were high up in the blue sky today making them
especially difficult to see. The majority of birds were turkey vultures
today, followed by red-tailed hawks. Red-shouldered hawks were present in
lower numbers than yesterday, often flying with the red-tails. Sharpies,
coopers hawks and harriers were also present today in low numbers along
with one peregrine. The highlight of the day was 5 golden eagles!

Non-raptor Observations:
Ducks once again dominated the numbers today, with the usual suspects.
Buffleheads are beginning to arrive, a few on the marsh as well as the
lakeside. also observed on the lake today were two new species this year,
ruddy duck and common merganser. Throughout day, redheads, a scaup, hooded
merganser and horned grebe were also present on the lake. Crows were
abundant today with over 15,000 counted. Evening grosbeaks and pine siskin
were also heard and observed near the tower.

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks slightly warmer than today but with mostly southerly winds.
Still, there may be some raptors flying from the north! This week seems to
be the last of the November warmth, so come enjoy it while it lasts!
