I’ll plan on bringing the PocketVNA to the picnic. Loading the software on my iMac was real easy. I’ve printed out the online manual info also, and will bring that. It made tuning a yagi a simple task. It will be interesting to see how it compares in the GHz frequency range.
Thanks Daun.

Daun, Tom, and all,
At the MVUS Saturday Aug 12 picnic, could a Vector Network Analyzer be checked to see how well it works?
It’s a PocketVNA, a small 2-port unit with sma connectors that I recently purchased for about $430 from Germany. It works with a USB cable. See http://pocketvna.com http://pocketvna.com/ . I use it with my desk iMac (don’t have a laptop for the software). The software does not require any drivers, and the program is on their website. I'm hoping to get this working on a Raspberry Pi with a small touch-screen for portable use.
Looking forward to the picnic.

Daun...do you have a 3.5 mm cal kit? And maybe some filters to sweep for comparison to your 8753? If not, I have both I could bring.

Yes, it would. But he does a pretty good job specifying the source for
all the components, and includes a custom cal table done on his
in-cal-by-HP VNA, so I suspect it's not too bad especially at the
frequencies we use. Happy to find out!
