SALISH SEA EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL
Our eighth and final performance in 2019 features quartets stretching
through the 18th century and ranging fromone of the most well known
quartets for these instruments by Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767)
from 1738 to a Sonataby Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) for violin, flute and
cello with harpsichord continuo. Fourquartets with obbligato (or fully
written out) harpsichord will be presented: one by Carl Philipp Emanuel
Bach (1714 – 1788) with flute, viola and cello, and three very rarely
heard quartets for obbligato harpsichord, flute, violin and cello by
little-known late 18th-century composers Tommaso Giordani (c.
1730-1806), J. Schmittbauer (1718 – 1809) and Johann Gottlieb Naumann
(1741 – 1801). Please join us!
