Note Re: 2020 Census Deadline Extensions Act

Colleagues,

Please see below for information on a bipartisan bill being introduced in the Senate that would extend the deadlines for 2020 Census data collection and reporting. The extension is essential to make sure that the Bureau has ample opportunity to gather responses from hard-to-count populations, including adults with low levels of educational attainment. A full and fair count of hard-to-count U.S. residents ensures that these residents and their communities receive the resources and representation that they should have.

Both NCL and CLASP have signed on in support of this bill (the current list of endorsing organizations is actually quite a bit longer than what you see below). I encourage you to sign on in support by contacting Trelaine Ito in Senator Schatz' office (mailto:trelaine_ito@schatz.senate.gov) if your organization is able to do so, and to contact your Senators to make them aware of your support.

Thank you!

Deborah
