GULL now on grassy hillside above farm buildings.

01/06/15 - Southbury, River Rd -- MEW GULL made a second brief
appearance around 1:15 in the same field behind the Mitchell Farm
barns before it quickly disappeared again. Also 3 White-Crowned
Sparrows and a flock of 8-10 American Pipits around the brushy
areas/pumpkin patch at Mitchell Farm.

01/06/15 - Haddam, Haddam Meadows State Park -- 9:30; Northern Shrike
in plain view atop tree by River. Second picnic area north of boat
launch. Flew around 9:40.

01/06/15 - Haddam, Haddam Meadows State Park -- 1 Northern Shrike
observed from the east end of the fish hatchery dam. At 12:05 PM, the
Northern Shrike flew from the middle of the fish hatchery dam and
landed half way up a tree along east edge of fish hatchery 100 feet
north of the fish hatchery yellow gate entrance. Perched for about 15
seconds, it then flew to the west side of fish hatchery and was lost
from view. Not enough time to photograph, but recognized markings and
behavior of the Northern Shrike from previous sightings by the Haddam
Meadows State Park fish hatchery. Nearby Blue Jays, Chickadees and
Juncos called their alarms and scattered away. Again observed on a day
with little to no wind.

briefly before disappearing into the brush.

late in the day on Saturday CBC in company of house sparrows and other
feeder birds. Seen again Sunday and Monday. Checked in with the
property owner to be sure they were okay with folks coming to look
into their yard. Please stay in the road while observing.
