International Certificate of Competency

I saw this on another list:

Many (if not all) EU countries seem to require an International
Certificate of Competency or something equivalent for the skippers of
visiting boats longer than eleven meters. Does anyone here know what is
considered equivalent? OUPV? ASA? I can't find anything that seems to
definitively answer this question. If anyone has had to deal with this
and knows the answer, I'd be very interested.

Generally the Senior Navigator certificate from either the US Power Squadron
or the Coast Guard Aux. are considered equivalent for Americans, but there
is nothing specific in the EU regulations on the matter.

Certainly having proper knowledge is in your best interests and that of your
crew so get the education.
