We've had a couple of folks ask to leave the listserv. Let me offer some suggestions before you do, because I've seen some really helpful information passed along. First, if you want to be involved but think you're getting too many emails, you can create a macro to move the mail to a folder and read later. I believe you can also subscribe to a digest version which will send you fewer emails via a digest. I'm not certain how that works and we're scrambling to find out as I'd hate see people leave the list due to an eruption of emails when the issues are so important to attorneys representing municipalities in Oklahoma. If you use a macro or a digest, you will reduce email loading, but you will also lose spontaneity and time in getting the messages. And as an unintended consequence you might not look in the folder where you're sending this mail and miss things that could be important to your practice. As we tell everyone who uses a listserv, bear in mind that FOIA laws will likely apply and Rule 1.6 of the Rules of Professional Conduct applies, so be sensitive to those concerns in asking and responding to questions on a listserv. If you would like someone to ask a question on the list anonymously, feel free to email me directly and I'll do so or someone on our staff will do it. IMLA has a model social media policy that is available to our members that addresses other forms of communication via social media and if you're not a member we hope you join.
