Pierce Conservation District's
Manure Share Program
The Pierce Conservation District has a free program that benefits
livestock owners, gardeners, and the environment! It is a manure share
program that brings gardeners searching for free fertilizer in contact
with livestock owners that have excess manure. The program's goal is to
remove manure from farms that do not have the acreage to adequately
utilize its nutrients. This benefits water quality by removing the
excess nutrients from farms and by lowering the amount of commercial
fertilizer used by local gardeners.
A list of farms with excess manure is available at the District office.
Once they get the list, gardeners can then contact the participating
farmers to obtain information on where and when they can pick up the
free manure. Participating livestock owners are encouraged to fully
compost their manure and bedding in order to make their product more
desirable to gardeners. Please call the Conservation District at 253
845-9770 ext. 106 to obtain the Manure Share Farm List.
