funds tied directly to paid memberships: ASA reception, pre-conference,
website, email list, etc. Also, some benefits are only available to members,
such a discount on a subscription to the journal Information, Communication
and Society (iCS). The section also publishes an annual special issue of iCS
that consists of papers presented at the ASA annual meeting in the area of
communications, IT, and media studies.

Keith; Thank you. I intend to submit my membership today. Just a note with regards to the topic. I think there to be too much left to interpretation so went to your home page CITASA and found it more enlightening than what I have received as an ASA member. One of my particular positives regarding the subject is the use of communications and IT by Iranian the citizenry to share the message of what was happening following the clamp down on traditional media during their recent election. The fall-out continues. Ditto in Honduras with democratically elected Zelaya's ouster and recent return. The place of value attained by your group must not be overlooked. Social networking vis-à-vis CIT is with us on a global scale for the long haul assuming that government does not over regulate/stifle/respress. Government being all governments, be it Russian, Iranian, .etc.
Regards, Dave
