South Carolina Closures

I talked with a hgher-ranking Department of Natural Resources fella, in
other words, the marine patrol, today asking about shore access for
cruisers. Even though, here in South Carolina all public ramps, docks,
landings, and other assorted locations are closed to the public, and if
violated carries a mandatory fine, and possibly imprisonment, he said that
cruisers, if going to a store or other necessary facility, can use these
closed facilities. The closures are intended to keep the public
recreational folks away, not the cruisers, unless they start to congregate.

As a side note, and noticed only because I'm kinda into wood, plus I was
getting bored pumping the bike down to Wal-Mart, paying attention to
everything except where I was going.  Here, along at least one road, I
noticed 'power poles' made from laminated pressure-treated wood, not the
more common solid, round trunks of trees or cement poles... quite tall
poles at that, but in rectangular cross-section!
