I'm one of the ones that prefer not to shut down the engine on a

passage; at least that is my plan. I do intend to install a Gulf Coast
passive filter and a Murphy gauge. The sight glass will allow that the
oil level be monitored while making way and the filter will help extend
oil change intervals.
Personally I don't feel comfortable allowing the filter to
eliminate the need for oil changes so I will be changing oil, just not
on a passage. I'm even plumbing in an oil change pump and manifold.
