One of the biggest elections impacting our Subdivision, Limestone Ranch is coming on November 6. State Representative Lyle Larson and State Senator Donna Campbell worked tirelessly last year to get legislation passed which would limit a city’s ability to annex a subdivision without the express consent of the homeowners. On November 6, the City of San Antonio is coming at us with a poorly worded proposition which will require us to vote whether we want to be annexed or not. Option 1 is for annexation, Option 2 is against annexation. I think this proposition was purposely worded so as to confuse the voters and to make annexation look more attractive. Clearly everyone needs to vote and have their opinion heard. I for one don’t want to incur additional and significant city taxes so I will be voting for OPTION TWO. My recommendation is that you vote for OPTION TWO as well. Please make every effort to vote in this crucial election and have your voice heard. Please don’t allow a few persons to make the hard work of Larson and Campbell be in vain and impose city taxation on us. Early voting starts on October 22 and continues through November 2. You can get more information at this site:https://www.bexar.org/1568/Elections-Department. The closest early voting site to us is the Fair Oaks Ranch city hall located at 7286 Dietz Elkhorn. Please make every effort to vote. Thanks, Greg Anderson

In my previous email I stated, “Option 1 is for annexation, Option 2 is against annexation. I think this proposition was purposely worded so as to confuse the voters and to make annexation look more attractive.” I wanted to explain that
in more detail.
The language in Option 1 talks about annexation for the purpose of providing city services. There is no mention of land use regulations by the military in this option.
Option 2 talks about land use regulation by the military. The implication is that this will be a bad thing to be subject to “military land use regulation.”
The irony is that we are already under this “military land use regulation.” Texas Senate Bill 6 imposed “military land use regulation” when the bill became law. If you want to learn more about SB 6, you can look at this website:
https://legiscan.com/TX/bill/SB6/2017/X1.
So, under Option 1 and Option 2 we are already under “military land use regulation” by operation of law. What does that term mean? It means we can’t engage in certain activities without getting military approval. It means we can’t erect
a 200 foot radio tower in our neighborhood. We can’t erect a skyscraper. We can’t focus floodlights into the heavens. As is evident, these are activities that our subdivision would never do. So “military land use regulation” really doesn’t impact us in
our day-to-day life.

I just pulled up the sample ballet and the annexation is titled CAMP BULLIS which is very misleading and confusing. Obviosly, the city wants us to vote for Camp Bullis and not against the military.
From my understanding it has nothing to do with Camp Bullis.

You are absolutely right. Whether there is annexation or not, Camp Bullis
will still have the buffer zone with light restriction rules. With or
without annexation, the city, county, and state of Texas made those
restrictions permanent as part of the BRAC process in 2005. That buffer
zone will be there until the Federal Government decides to change it. We
will never have a vote on that issue until the Department of Defense stops
using Camp Bullis for night training. Vote against the proposition and
defeat annexation!!!
