Question relayed to Ice Dancer on behalf of the list:

Why didn't Ice Dancer use the wing engine when the prop was fouled?

Response from Dick Barnes aboard Ice Dancer:

The mass of abandoned net was very large.  That night I cut the net away
from the wing prop, in case we had to use it.  But, it could have gotten
back into the wing.  The net was streaming all around the rudder and I doubt
that it would have worked properly.  This seemed the safest action: waiting
for good visibility in the morning and using scuba to get the chore done.

Cool Hand Dick! Logical and gutsy - more important than tools.
