Have there been no August postings or are they not on the archives yet?

Everyone is out there boating as there have not been any posts this month.

To start a discussion, ask a question or post an observation.

Hello, listmembers.
The absence of recent postings had me fear that my subscription had
malfunctioned.
I recently stumbled upon a website of Catamaran Builders, Islas de Cancun,
SA de CV. I was wondering if an members have had first-hand experience with
this operation.
In reading through their contract which is conveniently posted on the web, I
became alarmed by the provisions  for payments: 25% at signing of contract,
25% at start of hull #2, 25% prior to construction of bridgedeck and full
payment prior to the installation of steering and motors!!!
Add to this the legal uncertainties of dealing in a Third-World nation and
the question arises how can a customer maintain any control over the details
and the integrity of the finished product?
Is this form of funds transfer the norm of the industry?
It seems that the customer is left to place a good deal of faith in the
builder. Sounds really scary, doesn't it?
Ok, summer is over. Let's get the list up to speed.

                                   Regards, Bert Harrott---- Original
