Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsJust got my renewal notice for my marine radio license. $160.00 fee. These people must be crazy. Also I have never heard anyone give their license number on SSB. Am connsidering going without ( can still use SSB for emergent and safty traffic without license. Will stick with SSB ham for social contacts. Jon.
Jon; Found this in my spam box. What license are you talking about?
I have all of them, Ships Station License, Restricted (VHF) Radio
Operators Permit, Ham Call sign? I have the links for the FCC
Website to do license search if you need it.
If you have a VHF you dont need a license for VHF but if you
have a SSB onboard you most certainly need a Ships Call sign.
There is not much out there on the ordinary Marine Frequencies
all the big ships are on Sat Phone and Satellite Internet.
Only guys out there with a ssb with no Ham license are on
Cruiesheimers net or the DoDah Net. which are both None Ham
