Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsYep, sometimes the Champlain bridge between C3 and C4 is 17+ feet, but more
typically it is 16 feet. It is easily changed by dropping the water level,
takes an hour or so... notify the lock operators ahead of time.

replied "it was 17'2" this morning....you should be ok."

Kevin, Bridge clearance on the Champlain Canal is normally 17 feet. This
is the railroad bridge at Whitehall. The rail road bridge at
Mechanicville has a clearance of 15 feet but can be increased to 17 feet
by calling
Lock 3 at 518 664 5171.
